Terrible 2’s come early

So Ava is now 20 months…. but recently from her tantrums you would definitely think she is in the terrible 2’s already.

Shes not naughty all the time she’s actually really well behaved and the most cutest, loving little girl you’ll ever meet…. until she doesn’t get her own way or she’s tired or just point blank doesn’t want to listen to the word ‘no’

We have also recently had issues with bath time… from the day she was born she has always been a massive water baby, always absolutely loved bath time, but the past few weeks she all of a sudden hates baths…. screams and cries and refuses to sit down! I have spent the last 3 weeks bathing her standing up! I am really devastated  because bath time was always my favourite time of day, I love nothing more than getting her all clean and cosy ready for bed and I always read her a story whilst she plays in the bath but now our routine has to change for the time being so it’s bath her as quick as possible then calm her down and ger her ready for bed and happy again! I am praying she grows out of this very very quickly!!

She hasn’t had a Temper tantrum in public yet but there has been occasions where she has sat on the floor in shops and refuses to move if I don’t let her pull everything off the shelves! She also insists on constantly walking and won’t let me sit her in her pram…. world war 3 will happen if I try and put her in her buggie! Unless she’s absolutely exhausted which is rare as she seems to have so much energy these days and mostly misses her nap during the day!

She’s still in a really good routine, sleeps from 7-7:30, eats her food really well likes a lot of different foods, also has a major sweet tooth. She’s obsessed with peppa pig, she can work out how to find YouTube on my phone and the iPad and get peppa up, I do try and get her out and about more now especially in the recent nice weather so she isnt just sat watching tele all day, even though I want her to enjoy programmes and grow up with her favourite shows and movies like I did I also want to make sure she reads books and explores outside!

Well I am not looking forward to her actual terrible 2’s if it means these tantrums are going to get worse, especially in public I still need to learn how to handle them without wanting to die of embarrassment when my child is lying on the floor 🙈 all fun and games being a first time mommy!

Of course I wouldn’t change it for the world, she’s coming a long amazing she’s so funny, she copies us all the time and has us in stitches, she’s really trying with her talking now I don’t think it will be long before she’s speaking properly, she understand everything we tell her but she doesn’t speak back with a lot of actual words yet, I am so excited to see what her voice will sound like 🌎

Sensitive skin

From newborn Ava has had sensitive skin, we was given eczema cream from the doctors which seemed to work and she was fine for months.

The past few weeks I noticed her skin was getting very dry as she was becoming more active with her rolling. I moisturised her everyday but she seemed to still get really dry skin so I tried some new products.

I now use this in her baths and I use it to wash her body, it smells beautiful and it has worked her skin is back to being smooth and not dry so I am very happy and will be using this from now on!

I have started using this after her bath to moisturise her. Again it’s worked beautifully but doesn’t smell as nice as her normal pink Johnson baby moisturiser so I use that afterwards so her skin smells the same!

I’m really happy with how it’s worked, now she’s crawling and standing more her skin isn’t so irritated but I’m still going to keep this routine so her skin stays smooth!

Happy momma and smooth baby

Baby Schedule

So, After having Ava we really wanted to try and get into some type of routine. The first few weeks were a blur and it took a while to try and get into a schedule.

Its extremely difficult to try and get into a routine for sleeping and feeding ect when you have a newborn, you have so many things to do, so many visitors, and the amount of feeds change, needs change, sleep patterns change so it was definitely a working progress. I remember I used to make myself go to bed every night at 10pm at the start. Ava slept pretty much all day and fed off me. Once Ant went back to work I tried to get my own schedule with her. It started to work I was getting a  bit more sleep before she woke up for her night feeds I think she started to know it was bed time once we was both tucked up. Even if i was not fully tired by that point I always made sure I was in bed with her for 10pm.

Once she was about 10 weeks and she transitioned into her Moses basket at night I started to try and put her down at around 9pm alone. First few nights I couldn’t cope with her being upstairs alone it broke my heart (of course she was perfectly fine) My camera monitor was a serious life saver. She started to sleep from around 9-3am and then went back off until around 7 so I was getting more sleep and starting to feel human again. I then always made sure she was in bed by 9pm

6 Months

When she hit 6 months is when I really started to push scheduling and trying to get her into a good routine. I always gave her, her porridge around 9-10 o clock depending on when she had her morning nap. Then she would nap again between 10-2. 2pm would be dinner time and then she would have 2 more naps most of the time before bath time which is 7pm. I would then let her play until 8pm and then the last half an hour would be spent feeding her and putting her into bed in her cot.

Ava is nearly 8 months now and we have a strong routine going which I am very happy with. She wakes up about 6:30-7 and feeds from me. Around 9 she has her breakfast which consists of porridge, a bit of toast and now I am introducing fruit. Then she will feed off me and nap. I giver her dinner at about 1:30-2. Which is potato, veg and her snacks. She will then at some point feed off me again but sometimes she goes without. 5:30pm is tea time. Potato and veg again and whichever snacks she has in the cupboard. I like to experiment with her snacks so she gets used to different textures and finger foods. She then has her bath at 7pm, Straight into her night feed and sleep until morning! I am still on the bottle battle but she drinks lots of water throughout the day from her sippy cup so soon I will sneak in milk to replace water until she drinks it.

We are doing really well with our routine. It doesn’t always go to plan every day sometimes the times are changed depending on what we are doing but I am happy she is in a routine as it is so hard to try and get into. She is growing up so quickly its just the most incredible thing in the world to watch. I never knew actually how amazing being a mommy would feel but it is definitely an indescribable feeling.

Bath time is the best time

So… my absolute favorite thing to do with Ava is bath her. I have always loved giving her a nice warm bath and getting her all cozy in fresh clothes. I am very much a home person I love being wrapped up at home, I cannot wait for her to grow up and for us to be able to snuggle on the sofa with blankets and onsies and hot chocolate with candles burning.

From the day she was born one of the first things that i thought was I cannot wait to get her home, bathed and into fresh pajamas. As any mother will know your newborn baby will receive absolutely millions of cuddles whenever you have visitors which I love but she always came back smelling of different perfumes and after shaves, I always couldn’t wait to get her back smelling like her again. And of course the amount of sick she produced on a daily basis always covered her and ran under her chin into her neck rolls.

For the first 5 1/2 months I bathed her every other day as advised by the midwife. some mothers probably would of not used product in the baths in the first few weeks but I decided to use it from day one. My favorite essential bath products at first were….

I loved the blue bottle smell the most as it always reminded me of her being newborn and was the first one we used. The normal shampoo which i still use now. I found she had very dry skin in places so I used to baby oil her and then put a bit of lotion on her and that seemed to make her skin less dry and she smelt absolutely beautiful all the time. There is nothing better than a freshly cleaned baby smell! Now shes 6 months, I don’t use the oil anymore I just use the lotion. I use the blue bubble bath and I have started to use the purple bottle as well and I have introduced baby soap which smells beautiful. I now get to bath her everyday as shes weaning and food goes EVERYWHERE so I am very happy.

We at first used a normal baby bath which I  was terrified to do by myself in case she slipped out my grasp but I got to grips with holding her myself and got into my own routine of it. Then we decided she was becoming a bit big for the bath so we moved her onto a little lie down seat which she loved. After a while she started to kick about in the bath and slip down the seat so we shopped around for something different

No we have invested in a sit up, non slip mat which I absolutely love. She holds on to the bar and tries to grab all her toys and plays with the bubbles whilst i wash her. She can now sit up on her own but still hasn’t fully got her balance so this is brilliant for helping her whilst she finds her balance. It also has a temperature Gage on it that lights up and tells me if the water is too hot.

Bath time is definitely the BEST time. My little mermaid
